This video was taken in the state of California between 2008 and 2013. It shows various kinds of ships and boats. Boat styles are U.S. Coast Guard, dredging, fishing, leisure, and speed. Some days were overcast and others were partly cloudy or clear. The sunlight glints off the water in many of the sunny-day scenes. Some scenes are at sunset with orange skies. One scene shows a split-screen with two different images of boats speeding from right to left. In some cases, crewmen are seen on the boat's decks.
A pleasure craft bobs up and down on the clear blue waters. Another boat seems more suited for a lake than an ocean, but it ably tracks across the water. Presumably a United States Navy aircraft carrier is seen in the distance, obscured by blue atmospheric haze. In California, beach replenishment can be done with huge dredging ships that scoop sand from the ocean bottom a few miles out to sea, then place the sand nearer to shore. One of these dredging ships is seen in a time-lapse scene moving from left to right — smoke billowing from its smoke-stack.
A few still photographs are interspersed with the moving video. One still photograph shows a speed boat mere meters away from some floating kelp beds. Another shows a red and white Coast Guard vessel. Yet another shows a bright yellow speed boat with its American flag.
A different video scene shows a pleasure boat gently bobbing on a lazy afternoon. A small commercial fishing boat is surrounded by hungry seagulls on an overcast almost-rainy day. Then there is a fishing boat that lazily exits the screen leaving behind a gentle non-foamy wake of calm blue water. The video ends with a beautiful orange sunset over some calm waters, as a large fishing vessel moves in silhouette across the screen and leaves behind a seemingly dark wake of water.
