Video#48: Crashed Ice 2014 Quebec City Québec City, Québec, Canada. March, 2014 This video was photographed in winter of 2014 in downtown Québec City. It features highlights of Red Bull's famous "Crashed Ice" world tour, in which athletes wearing ice skates and protective padding skate in timed races around a closed ice track that has plenty of hills, valleys, and curves. As the event progresses, slower skaters are eliminated from the competition, so that only the fastest, and sometimes smartest, skater wins. The video features male or female skaters passing a camera at a fixed position outside the racetrack. Thousands of onlookers from all over the world surround the outside of the track, thumping and slapping on the walls of the track as the athletes race by. Québec City has been a consistent stop on the Crashed Ice tour, although Red Bull decided not stage the event in Québec in 2015, so it can try marketing its brand in western Canada.
Features Quebec City skyline at night, ambient sound of spectators, funny goalies who fell to the ice, Quebec provincial flag (fleur de lys), slow-motion of a Czech skater, iPhone guy, man drinking from Red Bull can, and two French-speaking women saying, «Eyy, c'est des filles!» «Bain oui!» The winners from this year's Men's event were: 1. Marco Dallago, Austria 2. Scott Croxall, Canada 3. Luca Dallago, Austria 4. Derek Wedge, Switzerland |
