Video#52: Bondi Beach and Manly Beach New South Wales, Australia. June, 2014 This video was taken at two beaches in the Sydney Australia area in June, 2014. The two beaches are Bondi Beach and Manly Beach. Bondi Beach (pronounced "Bond-eye") is a long crescent-shaped beach that in the summer time is jam-packed with beachgoers, and in the winter season (when this video was taken) has lots of people too. The month of June is in winter-time in the southern hemisphere, and even in the cooler water, the water is filled with surfers taking advantage of some good surfing conditions today. On this sunny day, we see a photographer on the cliffside looking intently at the surfers down below. There are children on the beach playing near the shoreline. Two surfers prepare their wetsuits for a stand-up paddle (SUP) session.
The video transitions to the next segment with a shot of the surf cascading over some rocks found at the south end of the beach. Next we visit Manly Beach, which is located further north. The beach is crescent-shaped too, but is about half as long as Bondi Beach. Here, the tourists walk up and down the sidewalk that is lined with very tall trees called Norfolk Pines. Colorful welcome flags flutter in the wind, while on the beach, the yellow and red 'swim zone' flags flap madly. A shot of a military ship in the distance is up next, followed by views of some surfers paddling out, and catching some waves. |
