Shiffrin shines,
Worley wows in Courchevel GS

December 19, 2017

Demonstrating impeccable form across a number of disciplines, American Mikaela Shiffrin skied to her first giant slalom victory of the season at Courchevel, France, on Tuesday. With her impressive win, she took over the lead in the giant slalom standings, for the first time in her career, from Germany's Viktoria Rebensburg.

Joining Shiffrin on the podium was home crowd favorite Tessa Worley. Skiing the fastest second run, Worley leaped from eighth after the first run into second place overall. It was Worley's second podium of the season after she finished second in Soelden, and her best ever result at the French resort.

Italian Manuela Moelgg, still chasing her first World Cup victory, finished third for the third time in a row this season. At the age of 34, she is in the midst of her most consistent season since the winter of 2008/09 .

Beyond Shiffrin's win, it was a tight race for the rest of the field with only 0.03 seconds separating second place from fourth. The home crowd also celebrated Marie Massios' move from bib 52 to finish 25th and Adeline Baud Mugnier's seventh-place finish with bib 24.
